                                                                      RESOLUTION
TOPIC: MSEA-SEIU Collective Bargaining Senate
SUBMITTED BY:
WHEREAS,  the process of collective bargaining requires increasing coordination between all sectors of the union, mobilization of the full membership in support of bargaining demands, and a permanent structure of member activists dedicated to the bargaining process; and
WHEREAS,  chapters and locals will be strengthened if they elect standing officers who are responsible for the collective bargaining process; and
WHEREAS,  the bargaining process requires work throughout the contract cycle;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that MSEA-SEIU establish a union-wide Collective Bargaining Senate. The members of the Senate shall be elected by chapters or locals, with at least one representative from each bargaining unit represented by that chapter or local.  The members of the senate shall be included in any bargaining committee or contract action team established by the members of the bargaining unit.  The full senate may be convened by the President to coordinate bargaining and recommend policy as may be deemed necessary.
